It’s not customary for the minute book to record in depth the tributes made to Brethren on their passing to the Grand Lodge above. On occasion however, a brother whose contribution to the Lodge, or perhaps some unique circumstance, is such that a special minute is recorded for posterity.
Whilst this section records some of these minutes, it is dedicated to all of the Brethren of Lodge Bannockburn Bruce and Thistle No. 312 who have passed this way before us. Any underlined names means a link to a news story about him.

| 2026 | Bro. Robert Fotheringham passed to the Grand Lodge above on 15 June 2026. |
| 2026 | Bro. John Stevenson passed to the Grand Lodge above on 21 April 2026. He was Depute Master to son David Stevenson 2022-2023. |

| 2026 | Bro. John Brown passed to the Grand Lodge above on Saturday 7 March 2026. Bro. John was the grandad of our DoC Bro. David Stevenson PM and Craig Stevenson MM and great Grandad to Bro. Fraser Stevenson, Jeweller and Jack Stevenson Bible Bearer. |
| 2026 | Honorary Member Bro. Harry Stevenson a Master Mason of of Lodge Abercrombie No. 531 passed to the Grand Lodge above on 28 February 2026. |
| 2025 | Bro. Andrew McLeary passed to the Grand Lodge above on 29 November 2025. Bro. McLeary was Right Worshipful Master 1981-1982. |
| 2025 | Bro. Mark Kilpatrick suddenly passed to the Grand Lodge above on 31 July 2025. Mark was a former service person and one of our most recent Master Masons. |
| 2025 | The 13 March Regular Meeting noted the passing of much loved brother and Bible Bearer Bro. Robert (Bobby ) Cochrane to the Grand Lodge above. |
| 2025 | Honorary Member Bro. William Berkeley Harris-Burland (Lodge St. John No. 46 Auchterarder in the Province of Perthshire East) was announced as passing the the Grand Lodge above at our meeting 09 January. |
1999-2024
| 2024 | At the AGM on 31 October a “terrible few days for the Lodge” saw Bro. Joe Kinross, Bro. Alex Gray, Bro. Bill McVicar and Honorary Member Bro. Rev Jim Landels pass to the Grand Lodge above. |
| 2024 | Jan 02. Bro. John A. Davidson PM passed to the Grand Lodge above after a long, brave and stoic battle against cancer. |
| 2023 | Mar. 09. Bro. Andrew Craig PM, passed to the GLA. Bro. Craig had two successful years as RWM |
| 2022 | Sept 08. After the summer recess the Brethren paid their respects to Bro. Derek Irvine Snr. Bro. Irvine was a Lodge stalwart, often providing the solo during degrees and was Depute Master to his sons Derek and Thomas. On the same evening the Brethren also held a minute’s silence for our beloved Queen Elizabeth II who had died earlier that day. |
| 2021 | May 07. Bro. Josiah McCormick, father of Bro. James R. McCormick passed to the Grand Lodge above. Brother McCormick was Depute Master 2013 – 2014. |
| 2020 | Feb 10. Bro. James A. Smith PM passed to the Grand Lodge above. He served the Lodge as a faithful Brother, as Master in the 150th celebration year of 1974 and as Secretary for over 17-years. No surprise that he was honoured with Distinguished Service. |
| 2017 | Jan 12. Almoner Robert Cochrane Snr attended the funeral of Bro. John Rankin PM. Bro. Rankin had a huge impact on the Lodge over his time. He was the first Social Club Convener, had a unique MC style at countless Lodge events and was one of the three who crafted the ‘312’ Ritual Book. |
| 2016 | Feb 11. Passing the Grand Lodge above of Bro. George D. McPherson PM. Bro. Thomas J. Campbell PM spoke very highly of Bro. McPherson. |
| 2015 | Oct 08. Bro. Thomas McG. Cochrane PM passed to the Grand Lodge above. His brother Bro. Robert Cochrane Snr. thanked the Lodge for their cards and support. Bro. Cochrane was an ever-present in the Lodge, an Installing Master with a very strong commitment to ritual. |
| 2014 | Sep 11. Bro. Jim Paterson passed to the Grand Lodge above. Bro. Thomas J. Campbell PM spoke highly of Bro. Paterson’s hard work and service as Treasurer of the Lodge for over 13-years. |
| 2013 | Jan 10. Open Lodge heard of the untimely death in a freak road traffic accident of Bro. Alastair Dudgeon. Bro. Dudgeon had recently returned to the Lodge as part of a family with long and strong ties to ‘312’. |
| 2012 | Mar 20. Bro. Ian Chalmers PM and Bro. Alex Buchanan PM were reported as passing to the Grand Lodge above. Bro. Buchanan in particular was an excellent servant to the Lodge. He had a huge commitment to correctness, for example he would challenge any Brother whose shoes weren’t shined! He served as Lodge Almoner for `16-years. As a mark of the Lodge’s favour, the Military Degree in 2012 was dedicated to his memory and his Master Mason Song features on every Installation programme. |
| 2009 | Nov 04. Bro. John Bundy WJW died suddenly and passed to the Grand Lodge above. Bro. Bundy was known to all as a gentleman. He and his wife Bessy were active partners in Lodge life. |
| 2009 | Aug 14. Bro. Glen Bridgeman PM, 1970-1971. He was initiated in 1962 and was a regular attender and contributor in his 47 years of service to the Lodge including as a good ritualist. |
| 1999 | In January 1999, the passing to the Grand Lodge above of Bro. James Collington PM was intimated to the Brethren. Up until his final illness, even though 87 years of age, Bro. Collington was a regular attender of his Mother Lodge, Sister Lodges and The Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire. He rarely missed a quarterly communication of The Grand Lodge of Scotland in Edinburgh. Bro. Collington was an Honorary Member of Lodge Stirling Royal Arch No. 76 and Honorary Grand Jeweller of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. Both of these honours, which came late in his life, were very special to him. His passing, in the Lodge’s 175th year, was particularly sad as he had been looking forward to the event with great anticipation, having been the principal organiser of the 150th celebrations in 1974. |
