The May 2025 endeavour, Walking the Province for Prostate received another donation last night from Enable Falkirk. They support people who have a learning disability, including their friends, family and anyone else who cares from them.
Maureen Kilgour and husband Neil who help run the charity’s local branch got in touch last August. Maureen worked with our Senior Warden Bro. Derek A. Robertson way back and saw the walk poster in Lodge Polmont. She got in touch but various things got in the way of them meeting until now.
Maureen has some family experience with prostate cancer and wanted to help. Given that she and her husband are already local heroes growing and developing Enable Falkirk to support and help people, it makes her donation all the more poignant.
Bro. Robertson visited Enable Falkirk on their regular Tuesday disco evening. The halls were packed with people of all ages enjoying themselves. After the introductions, photo op and tour, Derek high-tailed it across town to see Lodge Saint Patrick No. 1309 from the Province of Dunbartonshire confer the Fellowcraft degree following the McBride ritual in Lodge St. John 16. Another packed venue.
As we know, the second degree emphasises study and learning. An evening such as this provided lots of opportunities for reflection and learning. Bro. Robertson resolved to return their amazing gesture by committing himself to raising money for Enable.
As Walking the Province for Scotland is still open, awaiting at least one significant donation, meaning you too can donate here.
