Following up the successful Wardens’ Night in February, a sell out social club enjoyed the excellent Beatles act Just John and Paul.
Just 48-hours earlier the duo were making their way home from playing a cruise ship in Japan! They powered through their jet lag to deliver a fantastic evening to a very appreciative crowd.
It’s been a couple of years since their first visit and many felt they were even better this time – if that were possible. Their first half was filled with classics from before St Pepper. The second half focussed more on their recording period with ‘The Ballad of John and Yoko’ a big favourite. In between songs the lads gave interesting insights into each track and engaged in nice banter with the revellers. By the end, the floor was filled with dancers all singing along.
Beatles afficionado, Tom Gow (in his Beatles T-shirt that featured every single they’d recorded) said, he’d seen many a Fab Four tribute act but Just John and Paul were the best.
After the entertainment our friend Robert (Mad Dog) Johnstone provided his DJ-ing services until well into Sunday morning.
A big thank you to organiser David Stevenson, the raffle sellers and glass collectors.
