Monday 20 October saw 13 brethren from 312 attend Lodge St. Servanus Alva No. 771 to see a Fellowcraft degree. Past Master Bro. R. Russell McKendrick PM, was in the chair due to the Master’s ill health. And Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Reg Weston was there heading a deputation from The Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire.
However, there was a surprise in store for someone in our deputation.
Bro. Clint W. Swan PM, DSC was offered, accepted and conferred Honorary Membership. Past Master McKendrick, a Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire colleague of Bro. Swan, lead the obligation. He told the assembled brethren that Past Master Swan’s honour was a result of all the advice, support and resources he provided to the lodge over several years. It concerned numerous refurbishments to their grand old building. He even stated that without Clint they would not have happened.
In response, Past Master Swan, clearly still surprised, thanked the Lodge’s brethren for conferring Honorary Membership, confirming that it was always his pleasure to help them. He concluded by stating one of his masonic attitudes by referencing the first degree’s, “If you had it would you give it.” Bro. Swan was congratulated by Bro. R. Russell McKendrick PM and the Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Reg Weston.
Past Master Bro. Tam Adams, then lead a flawless Fellowcraft Degree conferred on the Junior Deacon’s son by the Lodge’s office bearers and guest ritualists. Bro. Robert Anderson PM Lodge Buchanan Killearn No. 1419 delivered the secrets, Bro. Billy Reid Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden stepped up at the last minute to deliver the Tracing Board lecture and Bro. Clint Swan PM, DSC returned to the West to deliver the final charge.
At the meeting’s end, our RWM Bro. Richard A. Kerry provided the fraternal greetings on behalf of the visitors.
During the harmony two additional charity events were promoted with each receiving sizeable donations. One was a brother’s walk for Sauchie Community Hall and the other a charity that gives Christmas gifts to children who otherwise would not get any. Providing further proof of freemasons generosity.
And in the final coup of the evening 312 carried of most of the raffle prizes!
